Без абсолютно никаква изненада най-големият победител на тазгодишното издание на The Game Awards е The Last of Us Part 2. Играта обра множество награди в различни категории и бе една от най-често споменаваните по време на церемонията, която този път се проведе само онлайн.

Конзолният хит, появил се като една от последните значими игри за PlayStation 4, стана "Игра на годината", но спечели още в категориите за най-добър диалог, най-добър звук, най-добро екшън-приключение и дори в новата категория "Иновация в достъпността".

Заглавието не бе единственото, което си тръгна с повече от една награда. Сред останалите отличени бяха Among Us (Innersloth), Hades ot създателите на Transistor Supergiant, Final Fantasy 7 Remake на Square Enix, както и самурайската сага на Sucker Punch - Ghost of Tsushima.
